Writing Tips for the Practical-Minded #8: Because even I can't be practical-minded all the time...

I have confessed to you people that I write in a recliner.  And I had described the first month of writing a new book in these terms:  reading for a living.  And there's truthfully a good dollop of thinking for a living thrown into the mix, so when I saw this photo, I had to share it with you.  I wish I had taken it, but no.  I got it from icanhascheezburger.com.  Enjoy!

  1. I got up from my recliner to go do some housework and came back to find my own cat in my chair. He's not lying on his back, but he *does* look like he's planning something. I think I need to be very, very careful...

  2. It would be time to worry if there were added words to the laptop upon your return.......

  4. My kitty does sometimes walk across the keyboard when he's "helping" me write. (Which he does every morning. I sit down to work, he leaps into my lap, then I have to pet him until he decides I'm finished.)

Once, I was emailing my friend Kelly, and his paw hit the "k," "j," "l," and, "i" keys. I let his word stay and explained to her in the text of the email why her name had suddenly morphed into "kjli." He'd just gotten so close to the right spelling that I couldn't bring myself to edit him. :)
